Today, I went with
yuncyn,
futomimii,
carneaglariel and
enigmatic_wind to watch 'Up' in Sunway Pyramid today. I've been hearing rave reviews about it and even reasons to bring tissue paper to the cinema during the movie. That, snowballed with the fact that it's Pixar pretty much meant I would eventually check it out.
And boy, it doesn't disappoint! I didn't cry the 'one litre of tears'
piratelicker did, but I did end up sniffling at several points in the movie (yes, including the short clip before the movie began and the ending.) And I have to agree with Reins on the OST - gorgeous, gorgeous music that complemented the animation and story really well. And all those vibrant colors and smooth, amazing animation and guh.
The plot is simple enough to follow, but unfolds so beautifully without actually being shoved directly into your face. (Also, it is apparently so subtly conveyed that a kid behind me kept asking her parents what the heck was going on on the screen. +.+ Mmmmm, I'm thinking this may be a movie tailored more towards the older crowd then.)
Loving the character development as well - Carl's (obviously) the one given the most attention and focus, but I like how his development is clearly tied in with the other characters whom, while less developed (even static at times), are pretty likable. And Dug. ♥
Not going to drop any spoilers here, but do check it out if you can. It is definitely worth the watch and-
SQUIRREL.
- I mean, and will be worth the time and money spent. Seriously.
Not really related, but I really want to watch 'The Princess and the Frog' once it hits theaters. And wow, I really miss the good ol' Disney movies, like 'Aladdin' and co.
Anyway, the bunch of us took some purikura pictures afterwards and divided the photos amongst ourselves. Here are the ones I got. (Sorry about the picture quality; my scanner is old. T^T)

We started out pretty 'seriuz'. Really, we did.
( +5: Five times as sparkly, five times five as crazy-mad as you can get when you shove five girls into a photo booth )
Will add another picture-cut once I get the other pictures, because seriously you guys, there are more epic pictures than these. For serious.
In other news, I passed 'Captain Jack' on DDR today! \(^o^)/ With a quarter bar left to boot. Turns out it was easier than 'Cartoon Heroes', mostly because the latter has more double steps. Hoping to replicate that the next time I take a whack at that machine.

Quick recap of the past few days again (or in this case, last Friday):
i) Went for
raincloud_sama and
enigmatic_wind's kind-of farewell dinner (the two of them are leaving for the UK soon) at Pasta Zanmai in Sunway Pyramid. The food was decent, but the service wasn't very good - we had to ask three times at least for my green tea and Denise got the wrong order once; they had to reconfirm the order several times, if I recall correctly. And that's not even taking into account the wait for the food to arrive. Admittedly, both
yuncyn and I came late-ish and the restaurant was fairly crowded, but still. Not the best of impressions when it comes to service.
ii)
sapphire_1010 AND I FINISHED 'CARTOON HEROES' (YES, ALL THE WAY TO THE END) ON DDR STANDARD MODE FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER YEAAAAAAAAH. \(>A<)9
Hoping to reduplicate the feat someday before going for 'Captain Jack', yosh!
iii) Ended up buying a pair figurines from Vol. 2 of the Dynasty Warriors 6 Eiketsu Mini Figures because they're cute and I am weak that way. These figures go for RM25 each (ouch), but are pretty well made and cute to boot! Plus, it's Dynasty Warriors, end of story.
The figure is completely hidden in the box it comes in, so exactly which figurine you'll get is totally random and dependent on your own luck. Darnit. >:/
( So did I get lucky? )
Today:
Dropped by the 'One Kilometre World' exhibition by S. Amin Shahab in Pyramid with my family today. It was pretty interesting, the canvas - in a nutshell, it is a one-kilometer-long canvas with various landscapes and people shifting and melding with each other. The whole thing was done solely in pen (Artline, if I'm not mistaken), which made the details on it doubly impressive, IMHO.
( tl;dr? Long, detailed canvas is long and detailed - now with photos! )
There's also the '1,001 Faces of Malaysia' project happening right beside the exhibition, with S. Amin Shahab sketching 1,001 faces of shoppers and people who 'represent our country'. It's still ongoing and will continue until the 31st of August, so if you want your face to be one amongst the many others, I believe it's open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Sunway Pyramid.
( Oh, and before you go... )

Figured I should upload the photos I snapped today at Sogo (more on that later), which ended up in me catching up a little on a few backdated photos. So, this isn't quite a photo spam, but what the hey, it'll do. (Warning, fairly big pictures - fear them!)
But first! Remember my goal of taking over the world with cute photos?

YEAH, MY PLAN IS WELL ON ITS WAY. 8D
( To start things off, UTAR Setapak trip, anyone? )
( Then, there's the 'Was not in China; here's the photo to disprove it' shots... )
( And now, for some very, VERY backdated stuff )
...for a self-proclaimed not-very-photogenic person, I have a lot of self-photos. O.O. Huh.

The new semester began yesterday - no more lazy days and late mornings, awwww. Our new schedule's a little strange with Saturday classes and off-days on Tuesdays and Fridays. Also handed in my FYP proposal (after 3 days of brainstorming over what to focus it on); here's to hoping it won't be rejected!
Since we only had one lecture yesterday, what with it being the first day of the term and all, I followed a couple of uni friends to go catch 'Monsters vs. Aliens' at Midvalley. The movie wasn't too bad, but I think my expectations of the movie was set a little too high - it wasn't as good as I thought it would be. A result of too much hype perhaps? Still, the animation was good and Bob was an absolute scream. I wouldn't watch it a second time though.
Anyway, remember me mentioning these cupcake lip glosses in a previous post? Well, if you ask
yuncyn (and probably a number of other people), you'd learn that I've (sadly enough) been telling her how much I want these over the past few days. While I was at Midvalley, I followed friends into a beauty store, and lo and behold, there were several tester-samples in all their cupcake glory placed on one of the racks for display! *O*
Needless to say, I spazzed out. Really spazzed out. ♥ Granted, they were not the UK ones I saw - copies made by Bloop, actually - but still! After thinking they weren't available locally, it was a lovely, lovely surprise.
Sadly, logic kicked in and told me that RM36 (RM24 when Denise offered to take one) was more than I could spare for the set (three in one box) and I ended up going home without buying them after providing myself with a number of very plausible reasons as to why I was doing the right thing.
Upon reaching home, logic took a large beating from the part of my brain which has a weakness for cute stuff. With assistance from Denise, logic eventually caved in and today found us back at Midvalley to buy the set. We did try looking around for alternatives first at Jusco, Metrojaya and random pharmacies to see if we couldn't find sets with more choices (each set of three have random cupcake designs in them; the place we found it at only had 3 sets left with some of the cupcake designs already unavailable). No such luck - turns out Bloop is a pretty under-the-radar brand; we were probably lucky to have found the lip glosses we did at all!
So we finally bought a set and split it between us - I took the strawberry one, Denise the chocolate and the third one will probably go to my cousin for her birthday.
tl;dr? I AM A VERY HAPPY PERSON BECAUSE OF THIS:

Went to watch 'Star Trek' with friends yesterday; thanks for inviting me out, guys! ^^ Glad I changed my mind and decided to watch it in the end because, boy, was it worth it! I'll admit I'm not a Trekkie - I only know the name of the series and whatnot - but the movie was really, really enjoyable. I guess I was expecting several references to the fandom that I might not understand or pick up; glad I was proven wrong in that aspect. And Chris Pine is awesome eye-candy, yes he is. ♥
Heck, I'd watch it again, maybe even get the DVD when it comes out. ;p
That being said, I popped over to
maxsterism's LJ to read all his Star Trek posts with my newly acquired knowledge (to a certain degree anyway). And boy, Max, did you hoard up on some hilarious stuff:
*am still laughing at above video* I seriously need to stop looping it, but seriously? Being disappointed that the story-line made sense? Outrage at subtitles for Klingon dialogue so that people who 'haven't studied an imaginary language for years' can understand it? I can't tell if those fans are actually being serious considering the video is supposed to be a news-spoof, but that is hardcore, people.
Also took a stab at that Star Trek 'which-character-be-thou' quiz.
( Guess who I'd be on the Enterprise? 8D )
Also, I need to stop staring at this set of lip glosses packaged in cupcake containers, but they're too cute, darnit! I wonder if they even sell them in Malaysia?

Back from Kemaman, where we (
yuncyn and I) bunked with a friend of ours, Sal, border-hopped between Pahang and Terengganu and enjoyed the heck out of two days. 8D Thanks for having us over, Sal - we had a awesomely awesome time! *hugs*
Anyway, long post is LONG and heavy picture post is HEAVY. Seriously, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
( So it all starts from the plane, y'see... )
All the other photos are over here. This post alone took me, what, an hour to compile?
All in all, it was an amazingly productive holiday (or just 'amazing' would probably do the trick) - thanks Sal for allowing us to bum out at your house! And tell your family that we're really, really grateful for them tolerating us dragging you out here and there. >DDD Only downside of the trip were the perverts who turned up at the Legend on the first day, but the way I figure it, it isn't all that surprising. And weighed against the experiences we had, it's really almost nothing but a niggle in a memorable trip.
So...Redang next time, yeah? (^o^)9

Caught 'Angels and Demons' with
yuncyn yesterday - LOTS of tl;dr under this cut. Lots of brackets too, because that seems to be my favorite type of punctuation recently.
( Hey, spoilers (for both the movie and book) goes here! )
tl;dr - 'Angels and Demons' was worth the ticket price. Couple of changes here and there, but they were mostly minor and/or didn't affect the movie plot. Very fast-paced with cool music. Better than 'Da Vinci Code', IMHO.

I haven't been updating LJ lately, oops! ^^; I should be more persistent when it comes to updating, really.
Regarding the rant in the previous post, our lecturer apologized for the time cuts, hinting she'll be much laxer in marking the papers. I'm still not completely buying it though; what if there were students who were unable to answer the questions at all? Pushing the issue publicly won't do much of a difference though - reporting, unless done by a large majority, rarely works and trust me, I'm pretty sure some people in that huge, huge class (combo of EL, Chinese Studies and Journalism(?)) are happy enough to leave as early as possible, thank you very much. What I _can_ do is submit a negative evaluation form on her at the end of the term, which I think I'll do.
Finished two assignments this week and one HOTEL (History of EL) quiz; it's been a busy, busy week! One of the assignments (the Sociolinguistics one) included a chapter summary where we had to summarized 25 pages worth of reading material into 1 page, guuuuuh. X_X;; *FALLS OVER AND DIES* The response page after that was almost just as bad, because I didn't have enough brain material scraped together to formulate any kind of reaction towards the issues I summarized. Needless to say, I'm glad that particular assignment is over and done with!
Have a Language Learning mid-term to look forward to next week, oh joy. Long sems are always super-busy, I guess. And, as redundant as this issue is getting, my cough and flu needs to take their leave of me, kthks.
Watched 'Watchmen' today with friends; I'm really impressed by the cinematography and the mood of the whole movie - artistic violence, anyone? For someone who's super-squicky when it comes to extreme violence and horror, I'm actually surprised that, with the exception of one of Rorschach's flashbacks, I managed to watch the entire thing without squinting. Somehow, there is a kind of (dare I say it) elegance, however brutal, in a number of the more violent scenes that kind of keeps me kind of disconnected from them. It's hard to describe, but Tl;dr - I was so awed by the way they were pulled off, I didn't have time to be really creeped out. ^^;;
While it's not the kind of movie I'd list amongst my favorites, I definitely have to tip my hat off towards it for the way it carried the plot. Granted, I've never read the original graphic novel, so far be it for me to compare it to the original plot. I do think the movie-plot rather interesting as it is though, so it was totally worth the money I forked out to watch it. :)
Anyway, will try to catch some early winks tonight, but chances are that I'll end up sleeping late again anyway. ^^;;

Haven't been updating my LJ for awhile; uni's been busy and I'm just a procrastinator that way. ^^; A huge photo dump is huge soon, once I've finished sorting out (or transferring in) those pictures.
Also still working on those drabbles; they will eventually go up. Hopefully.
Uni promises very sleepy mornings, but awesome lecturers.
And now, tl;dr squeeage:
Was invited by Denise's mother to go watch the premiere of 'Red Cliff II' yesterday (thanks so much, aunty! T^T9) and lemme just say this: it is super, SUPER AWESOME and now, I need the DVD, if just for the scarecrow (with Lu Su) and the arrow ploy and generally sneaky strategies and epic war scenes and yes, I'll stop now. Seriously, wow. I love the music and how it just fits with the action/event taking place onscreen. Some of the characters (the females in particular) definitely deviated from their characterization in the original history and/or the 'Rot3K' novel but it was done well, IMO.
The scenery and the war scenes were A-plus, though I could be a bit biased here - 'The Battle of Chibi' is one of my favorite (and most frustrating map) in DW5, so watching the actual version actually unfold was pretty amazing for me. Come to think of it, I was pretty much fangirling throughout the movie. I didn't notice Xiahou Dun until the end though, darn.
I have no idea how they're ever going to compress both movies (Red Cliff I and II; 4-and-a-half hours combined) into a single, two-and-a-half-hour movie for the release outside Asia. My guess is that they'll likely cut out chunks war scenes and minor plot points like, God forbid, the arrow ploy (which would be a huge, huge shame, in my opinion). Either way, I'm glad I got to watch both movies in their full, uncut glory.
[/tl;dr]
I want to see Inkheart. But first, I want to actually start reading the book.
I need to kick my writing ass back into gear out of sheer necessity. Those Canaan days, where have they gone?
Also need to get Photoshop 7 back; can't seem to do anything with PS Elements.
EDITEI: Added a whole lot of tl;dr on 'Red Cliff'. ;D

( My thoughts? I HAVEN'T ORZED SO MUCH IN A MOVIE IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. *contain some spoilers* )
Regarding the other post, I dunno - there's nothing I can bring myself to do about it at the moment; I'm too much of an emotional coward, I suppose - always have been. Time is running short, but I can't see any resolution that I know I can tackle. *sighs*

Last lecture week of the semester - six days of study break and Finals exams will be upon us, egads. >___>;;
Coursework marks have been coming back - so far, it's all alright (phew!), with nothing that should pull my grade down. We still haven't gotten our morphology, psycholing. and academic writing assignment marks though.
The past few days have been crammed with quick trips to Midvalley Megamall from uni. Not purely for the pleasure of lepaking (hanging out) though; been searching for presents to buy our lecturers and my mom (since it's her birthday next month), the latter being a bit of a challenge. Doesn't help that I do my shopping with someone whose birthday ALSO falls in September and I can't ninja-buy her anything for fear the surprise will be blown. So how about it,
yuncyn, ol' pal? A spatula good with ya?
Moral learnt: Do not ever, EVER carry a heavy bag + books when you have to ride the KTM train; if leg ache isn't enough, I'm probably going to have sloping shoulders before I'm 25.
My long-standing grudge with the KTM train has been renewed in the past two days alone. Give me the LRT any day.
Thanks to early classes, we managed to watch 'Wall-E' today and HOMG, IT WAS AMAZING, HOW CAN A ROBOT BE SO CUTE AND SOULFUL ♥♥♥ The plot was fairly simple and understandable; what really makes the movie so memorable is the emotional relativity conveyed through the various characters. The cockroach, for one, was (I can't believe I'm typing this) so likable and likewise goes to the supporting cast of both humans and robots. The emotional growth of both Wall-E and Eve was also particularly well-done and pretty subtle. And I have a super soft spot for Moe, that obsessive cleaning disorder robot; LOL!!!
Seriously though, F-list - if you can, go catch this movie. It's really worth it - am now wondering if I should download/buy it.
Oh, before I forget, lemme just post this here:
Comic Fiesta '08
Date: 20-21 Dec 2008
Venue: Sunway Pyramid Convention Hall
Time: 11am-7pm
Never hurts to spread the word! ^^
Am tired, both mentally and physically. I really need to readjust my sleep schedule. In the meantime, study week means I can sleep in to gear up for the early exam mornings. I also predict lots of either DW or Reflexive Arcade games during that period.
Am not looking forward to revision but then again, who ever does?
So how about it,
Moral learnt: Do not ever, EVER carry a heavy bag + books when you have to ride the KTM train; if leg ache isn't enough, I'm probably going to have sloping shoulders before I'm 25.

Another whole day out: 7.30 a.m. to 11.30 p.m. on a cramped stomach to boot!
Spent my morning in Journalism lectures and EL meetings, my afternoon (and evening) at PC Fair and my night holed up at both the LRT and bus stations.
Swam through hoards of people, got bumped and pushed around, got lost once (when searching for my brother), gained really tired feet and endured the heat of goodness-knows-how-many-people cramped into a space.
BUT IT WAS ALL WORTH IT FOR THE 500GB EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE I GOT. ♥♥♥♥(T^T)9
And below my budget to boot! I was actually so physically (and mentally) prepared to pay more for one (and forego it if it proved too expensive) that I actually stopped and goggled at the prices until the throng pushed me along. Admittedly, I'll have to skimp on things for a few months and figure out how to rearrange the electricity sockets to accommodate for yet another plug but at least that'll be a load off my C: Drive. Plus, I can utilize my 80GB portable as back-up and for traveling purposes. (Thanks
slay_x for bearing with my pestering and bother for advice and help! Owe ya (more than) one! ;D Also, thanks
ultra_butterfly for the info on your HD. Really appreciate it! ^^)
Seriously, I was almost swayed into buying cheaper HDs with the same capacity - it's hard to make a choice when there's so many different brands around you and you're not exactly very tech-savvy.@_@ I'm pretty pleased with the one I got though; the brand is well-known and
slay_x said it performs fairly well. Here's to hoping it works flawlessly for the next few years!
Also bought a pair of earphones for below RM20 (student price apparently, whaddya know?); joy~! My bass-picky brother deemed them acceptable; we tested every pair we were interested in on his phone before we (or rather, he) pronounced judgment. I really should up my tech-smarts before I hit PC Fair again. =p
Extremely tired now - going to have to rush my half of the psycholing. assignment possibly on Monday (since I'll be out again tomorrow). Sorry Dylane! I'll make it up to you somehow! T______T

I hadn't intended this to be a photo dump, but oh well. ^^
Finally managed to dig out the pictures from my mom's camera from Comiworld 2007...only to find out she deleted a large number of them.
Ah well, at least I rescued a few pictures out - I finally have that frontal pic of Chizuru I've been wanting!

Also, several pictures from Bon Odori (gratuitously nabbed from

Two completely full days from 8 a.m. to 11.00 p.m/8.30 p.m, whoooooo~ *falls into heap on sofa* Not that I'm complaining, mind you, since a good majority of the time spent was in enjoying myself!
Went to Bon Odori - glad I did, if just to get to hang out with friends!!! (^o^) *hugs* Haven't met you guys in ages; blame it on uni and transport problems, ahahahaha orz. Met a number of awesome people as well. ;D Sorry if I accidentally annoy anyone or something; I can do that sometimes, I think. ^^;;
The event was even rowdier this year and not in a good way: there were quite a number of trouble makers who kept disrupting the dance lines again and again with childish clowning around, go figure. =___= And I still haven't figured out the reason for that creepy yellow rabbit-guy.
On the DW front, DYNASTY WARRIORS 5 GET-O! (>o<)9 Okay, to be honest, I got the game quite a while ago - finished Zhao Yun's story some time back. It's rather different from Empires in a few aspects. For one, thepeons soldiers don't run away like they do in DW5:E. And whoa, they really do respawn like crazy - it's not easy reaching 600 KOs in Empires, but the numbers far surpass that in DW5.
Also, I now know why everyone grumbles about the English dubs - as much as I like Zhao Yun, his voice makes me cry when he speaks more that 3 sentences. WHY OH WHY MUST YOU SPEAK EVERY SINGLE WORD YOU UTTER IN SUCH AN ENTHUSIASTIC '8D' VOICE? T____T I'd be much obliged if he'd switch to the tone that he uses for thanking people. Empires has him only spouting one-liners, which is probably why I missed the full effect.
Worth mentioning: I got quintuple-teamed (is there even such a word?) by Ling Tong, Lu Xun, Gan Ning, Zhuge Jin and some other guy's name I missed, three of which have killed my character (Zhao Yun) six times before just by double-teaming alone. It would have been sextuple(?)-team but I managed to KO Shang Xiang before the others approached. Zhao Yun and Liu Bei were also the only two left on the map against all 7 of Wu's generals.
Even more worth mentioning: Zhao Yun survived. And won, even with his and Liu Bei hanging on with one-eighth of their lifebar and Liu Bei's erratic need to wipe out every single one of the enemy army before heading for the main goal. *True musou, never will I doubt you again*
Not planning to do work tonight - too tired to focus and I need some hard-core sleep. Will probably start (and hopefully finish) my Moral assignment tomorrow, mrrrgh.

Classes finished early today (9.30 a.m), but since I had a meeting to attend at 2.30 p.m., it really didn't help much. I mean, 5 hours in uni doing nothing (much)? +___+
So in the spirit of randomness,
yuncyn and I popped onto the LRT and went to KLCC to watch 'Speed Racer'. Originally, we wanted to watch 'Prince Caspian', but the movie's two-hour duration would have made me late getting back to uni. Besides, pretty much everyone have raved about Speed Racer anyway, so we figured it was worth the watch.
WELL, everyone wasn't joking about being blinded by the psychedelic colors! Still, it was a nice watch - the plot may have been simple, but simple sometimes does it the best, IMO.
Besides, if it were too deep, meaningful and subtle, the colors just might drown it out completely. Not a bad adaption, as far as adaptions go - I think it was worth the money we forked out for it. ^^
Moving on, exam results have got me on the edge recently and UTAR isn't NOT helping. Said results were supposed to come out today (on the Intranet); even as I type this, I'm apparently still 'unauthorized to view this page', WTH. Not helping my nerves much? =____=
We did bump into our Eng. Lit. lecturer though and woohoo! At least my epic essay on the Romantic Period didn't fail me! She told us she could recognize our handwriting (since we're only identified by exam numbers on the answer booklets) and thus who wrote which booklet, which was why she could tell us how we did. Methinks this is because she had todecipher read (and mark) our scrawled pages in our Lit file, but I digress. A plus point was that she told us a good majority of our class scored well and 'sent her to Cloud 9'.
And at least I got to apologize for mixing up 'The Sunne Rising' with 'The Wife of Bath'. >D
One down, five more subjects to go - watch me collapse into a bundle of nerves on the floor!
(Unconsciously) adding to my stress, our lecturer told us that we'd probably do well, which was almost the same thing our Head of Department told us right before we exited the building. And my mom made it pretty clear she doesn't expect my CGPA to drop, accccccck. Ah pressure arrows, what ever will I do without you lot sticking in my back? +____+
Probably doesn't help that I had a dream yesterday about getting my exam slip back from my Crit. Thinking lecturer, only to see that I scored a B- for her subject. Admittedly, that was pretty bizarre, especially when she told me that I could change my grade by 'rewriting question 5 and 8'; there is no question 5 or 8 in the essay section of the paper.
My first thought upon waking up: WTF WAS THAT. D8<
My second thought: Wait, why critical thinking of all papers? You'd think my brain would have made the connection between me worrying and my arch-nemesis, Journalism.
Third thought: Is this an omen??? *raps on wood*
I hope I did well though. The rational part of me keeps yelling that everything's over and done with and no amount of fretting's going to help.
Unfortunately, no one told the panic in my brain not to start doing the riverdance over said part.
To round off this post, have the tarot meme popping up on my F-list! ( Besides, everyone knows I have a weakness for interesting memes. )
I have my doubts about that 'brave heart' bit (self confidence? I have self confidence? 8D), but there are certain parts that seems accurate enough. Interestingly, one or two of the cards actually did refer to the question I had in my head, and another two touched on the questions I didn't ask but have been contemplating of late. =D

Fulfilled one of my long-pushed-aside goals today: I finally managed to go to Sunway Lagoon (with
yuncyn)!
(Which really isn't saying much since I live, what, ten minutes from the place but hey, free time has not been that easy to come by until lately. Plus, the ticket prices are...well, not very kind on students' wallets.)
And whoo, was it worth it! We spent, what, at least six hours in both the dry and wet parks, especially on the African Pythons water slides in the latter. >D The lifeguards probably got bored of seeing us climb up to the push-off platforms so many times, but I think we provided a fair bit of entertainment by singing as loudly as possible instead of screaming on the way down (though to be fair, Denise always cracks halfway around the middle and starts yelling her lungs out).
The Surf pool was pretty awesome too, along with the 'beach' and sensor-automated showers with funky music. >D And the rain-mushrooms! We spent ten minutes 'meditating' under those - they provide excellent shoulder massages. The waves weren't on today though; that was a shame. D:
And there was this nice rides supervisor working at the Apache Pots ride (in the dry park): we were allowed to sit on that ride twice in a row, and he actually sped it up for us on the second round! >D
The park wasn't overcrowded (probably because it's a school day) so we didn't have to cram and jostle with too much human traffic. =p We managed to ride almost every ride in the dry park, barring the Tomahawk and the Pirate Ship - Denise wasn't too keen on the 360 degree rotations. I did manage to get her on the Lost City of Gold roller coaster though which, while considerably tame compared to a lot of other rides, is a pretty major accomplishment.
The only con of the whole trip was the insane price of the food they were selling inside the park itself - I could probably get a much better meal outside with less money, boo.
All in all, today has been fun, if really tiring - climbing those steps to the African Pythons a gazillion times is probably the most exercise I've done in months. But it was worth the 3 minutes of climbing for the 30 seconds of pleasure...
Now if you'd excuse me, I think I'm going to flop into bed and sleep early for the first time in a month or so. 8D

*wheee~!* - I'm listening to:DON'T U EVER STOP - KAT-TUN
Long day today; I've been out for more than 12 hours, going from uni to Pyramid to cover the Cultural celebrations there. It was a productive day though, and enjoyable, so there's nothing to grumble about there!
Strangely enough though, all the events today (with the exception of our Grammar tutorial replacement) had something to do with Malaysia in some form. The first hit came in Journalism today; our teacher hinted she might give us a pop quiz on general knowledge and thus, we all started reading up on recent news in hopes she would ask us about it.
Then suddenly, she starts asking about the Minister of Information's name, The Minister of Higher Education, the Mayor of KL, what OPEC stood for...cue hysterical and nervous laughter as everyone scratched their heads and went 'buuuuh????'
*groans* I only got 3 out of 15 questions correct, and the highest scorer in our class only got 6. Thank goodness this wasn't a serious quiz (so it's not taken into account when calculating our coursework), but our lecturer warned us that is will be serious next time and to start paying attention to the newspapers.
...I should start making a list of all the election candidates' names now, right? T_____T
And now for the real reason of this post: For our Critical Thinking class, we were asked by Dr. C to watch this documentary by Fahmi Reza - Sepuluh Tahun Sebelum Merdeka (10 Years Before Independence), when Malaysia was still under British rule.
Well, we came, we watched, we were blown away by something we were completely ignorant about. And not in the sense of not knowing a certain Minister's name either, but where we didn't know such an event actually happened at all.
My brain is currently too mushy to go into details (I will when I write it up for
refractology), but I strongly suggest you guys (especially the Malaysians) on my F-list click on that link - so strongly that I decided I wouldn't go to sleep until I LJed about this. Seriously. It's insightful, it's interesting and it covers something our History textbooks almost completely omits - the 'Hartal' of 1947. Additional information can be found at this Blogspot. Check it out, and spread the word. ;)
After all that, we trudged over to Pyramid where the Cultural CNY celebration was being held. We (
yuncyn and I) thought we might be able to get a scoop regarding the election for our journalism assignment because it was sponsored by Barisan National and MCA, but alas, it had almost nothing to do with the election at all. T^T
Nevertheless, what we got may be enough to work as a back-up plan and it was worth the trip if only to see the super-awesomely-gorgeous fireworks; I can't remember how long they lasted, but heck if it wasn't longer than the ones on New Years! (I got a crick in my neck just craning my head up at the sky. >DDD) And they were absolutely stunning, whizzing and spiraling and sparkly. (^o^) We also got to see the 25-times-World-Champion lion dance team perform as well, woot!
Now, bedtime! *flops away*

ACT I, SCENE 1
SETTING: 9.20 a.m., UTAR
SFX: 'I Love Dance' tootling from earphones*
Me: Zzzzzzzz....
yuncyn: *smses a classmate about passing today's newspaper to her*

(Relatively few) Other classmates: .....Canceled?? D8
yuncyn: ...Oh crap, I forgot Dr. T mentioned it sometime back...!
yuncyn: ARRRGGGGGGHHH!!
Me: So there's only class?...
yuncyn: Critical Thinking's only at 2.30.
yuncyn: DAMN WEI, I'M SO ANGRY I WANNA WATCH A MOVIE!
Me: ...eh?
yuncyn: *repeats, still D8<* I WANNA WATCH A MOVIE!
Me: ...For serious?
yuncyn: Serious!
Me: ...Seriously?
yuncyn: Serious!
*above exchange is repeated 2-3 more times*
Me: *slings bag up, no longer sleepy* OKAY, KLCC OR ONE UTAMA? >8D
end of Act I
And so it was that we ended up in KLCC and watched 'Kung Fu Dunk'. XDDDDD Denise? Best angry-reaction EVAR. *THUMBS UP* >8D
Speaking about the movie, it's not as bad as I thought it'd be. There was too little character/plot development though - I would have really liked to see more of the other basketball team members, not just the aces (whom, aside from Jay Chou, could also do with a good helping of character fleshing-out as well). Still saw a lot of similarities to Slam Dunk (the manga; we had fun making comparisons) and some of the kung fu bits were almost laughable. Not the actual execution, mind you, just the random-seemingly way it was done.
That aside, like I said, it wasn't all that bad - the camera filming(?) was done pretty smoothly, especially during the basketball bits and Jay Chou's character's little quirks were funny. And the masters!...XD ♥ I'm no movie critic, but I thought it a decent, enjoyable-in-parts watch and would still rate it better than 'The Dark is Rising' by far.
(Though now I can't help but wonder if we'd have been better off watching 'Meet the Spartans' instead...>D)
To top off a pretty good day,
disutansu, I GOT YOUR LETTER!!! ^______^ ♥♥♥♥♥♥ MY HEART NEARLY STOPPED WHEN I SAW THE SANADA CARD - ZOMG WHERE DID YOU GET IT??? And the fic and letter ASKDALKSJDAKJADLKJADJDGT ♥♥♥ ♥♥♥ I'll definitely read both later when I can sit down properly and peruse them~ *HUGS AND SHOWERS YOU WITH SPARKLY HEARTS* Thank you so much for even taking the time to write to me, you seriously awesome made-in-win person! *glomps ♥*
Speaking of letters, I'm finally knuckling down and getting to work on sending out a few letters to people I promised I'd write to - with any luck, something will get sent out this time...

ACT I, SCENE 1
SETTING: 9.20 a.m., UTAR
SFX: 'I Love Dance' tootling from earphones*
Me: Zzzzzzzz....
*
Me: .......Canceled?? D8
(Relatively few) Other classmates: .....Canceled?? D8
Me: So there's only class?...
Me: ...eh?
Me: ...For serious?
Me: ...Seriously?
To top off a pretty good day,
Speaking of letters, I'm finally knuckling down and getting to work on sending out a few letters to people I promised I'd write to - with any luck, something will get sent out this time...

ecstatic - I'm listening to:Gaston - Richard White and Jesse Corti
Today was an equally-long-as-yesterday day, with double the awesome! No wait , that's not quite right - it's just a different kind of awesome compared to yesterday's...But nevertheless, it was awesooome.
My brother popped back to Selangor for a quick visit and I ended up dragging him with me to go catch a movie in Pyramid right after church (since my mom had a lunch to go to and the computers at home weren't....well, working properly). We ended up watching 'The Game Plan' and it was worth every cent we paid for the tickets. ^____^ Fuzzy families movies are always win in my book and this one's no exception. I may just get the DVD if I can find it in stores.
But that's not all! I also managed to drag my brother into the arcade (okay, so that didn't exactly take too much dragging) and to the House of the Dead 4 machine. Now, while my brother is more of a Daytona enthusiast, he has pretty impressive aim in Time Crisis 4. Plus, according to him, he's a boy and thus is naturally 'talented in playing these kind of games'. XDDDDD
I've got to hand it to him though; with him as my partner, we not only cleared the Empress (3rd stage boss), we actually made it all the way to thesecond-last boss. The fourth boss, Temperance (more like 'Gluttony', if you ask me) was (or seemed to be) a piece of cake compared to the 3rd one; we cleared that one really easily. And, probably because he has goodness-knows-how-many-years-P2-gaming experience, my bro also had a good instinct for when to throw the grenades most effectively. >DDD Saves me the time of having to yell 'throw NOWWW!' and focus pumping those bullets into the bosses' weak spots.
To top it all off, I spent the latter half of the day playing O2Jam which is both like and unlike Pop'n. Still not used to the keys though, and I go 'O_____O' at any song faster than speed x3. The majority of the music I could play sounded really good though and hey, eye-hand coordination practice? >DDD
Note to self: I must not get addicted to O2Jam, I must not get addicted to O2Jam...
Oh, if anyone has the song 'One Love' by S'max, please upload it for me? I'll be really, really grateful - really want the song since...well, since I played it in 02Jam, but can't seem to find it _anywhere_. T_____T

It's been a busy day today! A bit tl; dr methinks, sorry - recording purposes, don'cha know?
( So let's go into the EL undergraduate seminar first, shall we? )
( Then on to Youth'08! )
In summary:
A good (if tiring!) day, all in all!
Would I do it all over again?
Errrrm, ask me tomorrow.
*flops over bed*
....Oh, and before I forget, have a meme:
We've all had them when we first meet people. Even our best of friends. Sometimes it's nice to hear what people first thought of us and if we've changed for the better or worse since then.
So, WHAT'S YOUR FIRST IMPRESSION OF ME?
I know this meme has been popping up like daisies all over my F-list, but due to my sporadic and completely unreliable Internet, I can't keep track of how many I've missed. So, leave a comment with the word 'gugglykoos' somewhere in it and I'll tell you my first impression of you. Deal?
Don't ask me why that word: I need sleep. 'nuff said.
