Grand haul from selling the entire Yami no Matsui, X (Clamp), and Nodame Cantabile (books 11-23), as well as all the character CDs and some additional one-offs? Go on, guess. ( Answer under the cut ) This is how they make money and manage to sell manga for 105 apiece; they buy them for 10 yen apiece from people getting rid of series so they can have storage space.

Approaching Zero
The colder the weather gets, the worse my heating situation. In the day, when the sun shines into my room, I'm all right, but at night my fingers freeze at the keyboard. I'm really very worried about our electricity bills for the winter, because the insulation in our apartment is incredibly bad--it's as if there's zero insulation. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that, actually--this building is about as old as Doug is, and Japanese builders don't seem to have been very big on insulation then. There has to be a way to somehow add to the insulation in this room, or at least stop it from leaking so much heat... but how?

There is a silver lining to be found here: I'm quite sure both of use are unlikely to get heatstroke in the summer. ^_^

Snug as a Bug in a Rug
Not sure where this phrase comes from, but right now I've got two wool sweaters on, plus a cotton one. It may be freezing in my apartment, but I personally am snug as a bug in a rug. ^_^ (Whether that will change when I go outside, I don't know...)

Rec Me Something
I have just realized that for me, good fiction boils down to this: "Interesting ideas done well." The definition of "interesting" is pretty open, as is the definition of "well", but as long as it's an interesting idea and it's well--written, chances are I'll love it. So this guy was supposed to come to the house and fix our washing machine at ten o'clock this morning. It's almost noon-thirty, and I'm still waiting. I really would like to take a shower before I have to go to work at four, ya know. But I know the minute I go to do something else, he's going to show up. Unimpressed.

So I finally did something I'd been meaning to do for a while - I cleaned out some old icons that I don't use anymore. There are a few others I probably could have gotten rid of, but eh, I still like them. And then I promptly turned around and uploaded a bunch of new ones! ...that may or may not be primarily Torchwood... *koff*

Speaking of which, kaitodoushi finished watching it on Wednesday before we left for Sioux Falls and the Rifftrax show (more on that in a minute). And when I say that she finished Torchwood, I mean that she's gotten through the end of season two. Not CoE. And her reaction to the end of "Exit Wounds" was exactly the same as mine was the first two times I watched it: total sobbing. Like...it sounds almost like you're laughing sobbing. I didn't sob...but I cried. AGAIN. STOP DOING THAT TO ME! *fist-shake*

So yes, I can has converted friend to campy British sci-fi show, whoo! I also may or may not have promised Kat that if/when I pass my certification test at the end of the month, and I am reimbursed by my employer, I might or might not use part of that reimbursement to invest in some Doctor Who DVDs. magic_truth, STOP LAUGHING.

After we finished TW, we went up for the Rifftrax show in Sioux Falls. On the way there (and back), we listened to a couple of TW audio play thingies. "Lost Souls" was cheesy in the classic sci-fi manner. "The Dead Line" has Ianto being the cutest thing in the history of cuteness, so we were happy. SHAMELESS FANGIRLING FOR THE WIN!

There's one thing weird I noticed about Nami's skirt. The Banpresto figure follows the skirt length as shown in Oda's sketch. But the POP Strong World Nami has her skirt reduced 70% in length. CUE THE PUZZLED EXPRESSION HERE
